Amendment Passes, Thank You.

The Board extends our thanks to unit owners for responding to our letters and personal contacts to approve the changes to the wording of the Meadow Hill, Inc. Declarations. These changes have been approved. They clarify the information available to existing and prospective owners, helping to avoid unfortunate mistakes. We want to let you know that more changes are anticipated, primarily due to changes in Connecticut Common Interest Ownership Act, which become effective July 1st, 2010.

We want to let you know that more changes are anticipated, primarily due to changes in Connecticut Common Interest Ownership Act, which become effective July 1st, 2010. According to the newsletter of our attorneys, Pearlstein, Sandler & McCracken, LLC:

The amendments to the Act are many in number and broad in scope…Some are designed to make associations more responsive to unit owners and to make their governance more transparent…[some] amendments may supersede the provisions of your governing documents. This means that your association will have to comply with the requirements of the amended provisions of the Act, rather than its own documents.

Meadow Hill, Inc, the Executive Board, APM, and owners need to comply with the law regardless of the provisions in our Documents, By-Laws, and Rules. In order to avoid misunderstandings, to clarify everyone’s responsibilities, and best meet the interests of unit owners, the Executive Board and our attorneys will be working on proposed revisions over the next few months.
