The greenhouse environment not only suits plants, but also provides an ideal habitat for a variety of insect pests. Recently there has been an infestation of the whitefly in our greenhouse. Whitefly resemble minute white moths. This tiny insect appears on the leaves of plants, and can spread rapidly. Those of us who use the greenhouse need to check plants and report any problems. A non toxic spray has been applied to leaves of infected plants, but the eggs on the underside of plant leaves will continue to develop. Repeat spraying with insecticides is required at ten day intervals. -Sandy MacGregor
