2012 HIGHLIGHTS

2012 – It was a very good year for Meadow Hill.

2012 – It was a very good year for Meadow Hill.

With a new year rapidly approaching us, I want to share with you some of our community’s highlights for 2012.

First of all, in June we added two new board members, Moira Finnegan and Dave Faxon, both of whom have already made significant contributions.

Our community voted to retain use of the stable for horses and we are currently working to make important changes to our Declaration to minimize insurance risks to our financial reserves. I anticipate final approval of this important change by year end.

Throughout 2012 we continued to enhance our grounds.  We removed or pruned many  trees that represented potential risks, we installed a new corral fence behind the stable, and most recently we made extensive repairs to sidewalks.

On a financial basis, we managed our expenses to come in under budget and we continued to grow our reserves, which now exceed $500,000.  We continually negotiated with vendors to always ensure we obtain best pricing possible.  We supplemented our income by more than $7,000 by leasing out the second floor of the Hollister House and by renting out our clubhouse for personal functions.

Amenity-wise, we made significant enhancements.  We purchased new furniture for the pool and new air conditioning for the Hollister House.  Our clubhouse was recently enhanced with a new TV room, new exercise equipment, new fans for heat control, a new gas stove in the kitchen (which is now open to everyone).  A gas fireplace and a 60” TV were installed upstairs.  Additional TVs were installed in the exercise room, the pool table room, and the new TV room. Lastly, we installed an AT&T U-verse system and WI-FI capability.

Our maintenance staff was very busy in 2012. In addition to their regular duties, they replaced decks, repaired leaks, installed new fences and stuccoed walls at the clubhouse.  Please be sure to say thanks to Darien and Tim this holiday season for all their good work.

Lastly, on behalf of the board, I’d like to thank all of you for your continuing support and to wish all of you a very safe and happy holiday season.
